Chapter 346: The Time Tower’s Second Challenge [2]
Chapter 346: The Time Tower’s Second Challenge [2]
With only six hours left on the timer, Leon didn’t have as much time as it might seem at first glance because the clock speedsters were incredibly difficult to catch even when you had all the time in the world.
Because although he could theoretically kill all of the clock speedsters in a matter of minutes if he could actually get to them, doing that was by far the hardest part of this entire challenge.
After six hours of constant effort and no success whatsoever, the situation seemed to truly be impossible for any normal player to complete.
Killing them was impossible because they were simply too fast to hit with any attack, and even trying to overwhelm them with sheer strength was too difficult due to how strong they were physically when they decided to fight back.
Leon couldn’t use [Abyssal Slash] to hide in the darkness either, since he couldn’t jump from island to island in that form and would just fall into the void.
"Kikiki!" the monsters continued to laugh at him.
"Kiiiikikiki!" they mocked him with their mechanical giggles.
All in all, it seemed completely hopeless, and the clock speedsters were still laughing at him without any fear.
To them, it was yet another time where they managed to perfectly humiliate a player who thought they could beat them at their own game.
’Did Dominik also have this exact same challenge when he came here?’ Leon thought to himself, ’I’m guessing he did, since he was level 100 when he cleared the time tower’s challenge.’
This meant the old man had managed to find a way to get to these things and grab the flag, even though they were clearly faster than him in every way.
Leon at that moment had the brief idea of using [Oblivion Meteor] to just destroy everything and be done with it.
But then he quickly dismissed the thought, ’Wait, no, that would be completely stupid.’
Even though the meteor was massive and could cause a lot of damage to a large area, there was zero chance it would actually hit any of these things directly.
The void they were in was far too large and spread out, and they would be able to move out of its way in a matter of seconds without any trouble.
’The only way to do that would be to...’ Leon’s eyes glinted as he looked ahead, ’I see.’
Leon decided to completely ditch the [Undead Skeletons] at that moment because they weren’t helping as much as he had hoped.
They were useful to corner these things sometimes, but all they did was become fodder and allow them to escape more often than not.
So that is why, instead of wasting more skeletons, Leon summoned 25 [Undead Mages] on his current island, and then he gave a single command to all of them.
"Fire every single time you can toward the islands, we’ll annihilate these things and everything around them," Leon ordered.
All of the skeletons’ eyes flared with a bright green light, and they nodded in unison as they lifted their staffs, fireballs appearing above them in a coordinated display of power.
Once more, the clock speedsters mocked Leon’s attempts, because they had seen him do that dozens of times already and it hadn’t worked.
But this time around, Leon wasn’t just "experimenting" anymore or testing strategies.
Vision Enhancement!
The world around him became crystal clear as he activated his skill, all of the clock speedsters’ movements perfectly visible in his eyes without any blur.
Then with a powerful leap, he jumped toward the closest island to which one of the monsters holding a flag was standing.
SLASH!
He swung his sword at the monster, though of course it avoided the attack completely by blitzing away at the last second.
And then, right on cue, all of his undead mages unleashed their fireballs.
BOOM!
Just like with the very first strategy Leon had attempted earlier, all of his undead managed to destroy all of the islands near it using their coordinated fireball barrage.
"Kikiki," the clock speedster giggled as it jumped to not lose momentum, and one of its companions was already rushing toward it to help it back up to safety.
But this time around, Leon didn’t just sit still and watch them escape like he had done before.
He tried many times to use his spells from afar to kill the monsters or even restrain them in place, but they always managed to dodge them somehow with their incredible speed.
Also since they seemed to be able to bend the air around them to move, though no enough to jump again.
But the main reason why Leon had failed all this time was actually very simple: risk.
He hadn’t taken any real risks at all since the very beginning of this challenge.
And he felt like Dominik was the kind of man who took risks when necessary, which is probably why he had managed to kill them and complete the challenge.
So instead of sitting around and playing it safe, this time, Leon actually jumped directly toward the clock speedster.
Without any island beneath him and with only forward momentum like this, Leon would definitely fall into the void below, which is exactly why he hadn’t done it before, but now it didn’t matter anymore.
That was the only thing he could do to complete this challenge and grab the flags.
"KII!" the clock speedster panicked slightly as it urged its companions to speed up and help it, and three of them instead of one rushed forward.
’Yes, come to me,’ Leon grinned internally, ’More of you in one place makes this easier.’
Storm of Lightning! Vines of Torment! Shadow Bullets!
These were Leon’s main skills that he could use on multiple targets at once, so he summoned all of them at the same time in a massive display of power.
It was actually incredibly difficult for a normal mage to use several different spells at once because of the concentration required.
Even Leon himself usually used them one after the other during battle because it saved mana and was much easier to control.
But this time around, he didn’t really have this luxury as he was dangling above the void with no solid ground beneath his feet.
So he used them all at once without any hesitation.
Fwoosh! Zap! Zap!
The air stirred around the monsters as electric elements appeared from nowhere, and then from above, dozens of lightning strikes erupted down toward them.
Though of course, even with all that power coming at them, the clock speedsters were still too fast.
Fwoosh!
Using each other as leverage and having the ability to bend the air around them to change direction, the clock speedsters could still avoid all of Leon’s spells without much difficulty.
They also cut down his vines of torment with a single one of their devastating punches, and as for the shadow bullets, they created a [Shockwave Barrier] that absorbed them completely without any damage.
All hope seemed lost at that moment as Leon was beginning to fall toward the void while the rest of the monsters were still doing fine and evading everything.
But then Leon smirked, because he had been planning something else entirely.
’Gotcha.’
DARK CRESCENT SLASH!
