Chapter 587: Mo Shiyun’s Death
Chapter 587: Mo Shiyun’s Death
Gabriel stood in his calm stance, his twin blades held loosely at his sides. He did not look tired, and his eyes remained perfectly cold behind his mask.Across from him, Mo Shiyun stood perfectly still. But under her bone mask, her breathing was starting to sound rough and heavy.
Every single physical clash with Gabriel had sent a violent, bone shattering force through her ancient body. She was nothing but a fragile ghost clinging to a rotting, broken vessel. The skin on her hands was already starting to crack like dry clay, and thin lines of black blood were slowly trickling down her wrists.
She could feel her bones fracturing under the weight of his strikes. Her wrists were cracked, and her internal power was leaking away with every passing second.
’I cannot win a physical fight of attrition against this monster,’ she realized, her dark eyes burning with rage. ’His strength is too high. If this continues for another minute, my body will turn to dust before I can even touch him.’
Knowing she was running out of time, her expression turned crazy.
"If I must burn... then I will drag you down to the abyss with me!" she roared.
Mo Shiyun raised her right hand, her fingers turning into sharp, black claws. With a savage, violent motion, she grabbed her own seven blood red nails floating in the air.
CRUNCH!
Without a single moment of hesitation, she forcefully drove all seven nails directly into her own chest, stabbing them deep into her heart.
ROOOOAAAR!
A bone chilling scream echoed through the chamber, so loud and painful that it made the ears of the bystanders bleed.
[Soul Burning Demonic Fusion!]
The moment the nails pierced her chest, her entire body exploded with a massive, blinding wave of purple demonic fire. The dark flames shot up into the sky like a volcanic eruption, reaching the high ceiling of the cavern.
The Demonic Qi around her turned incredibly thick and heavy, forming a violent, spinning tempest of dark energy. The sheer pressure of the dark storm cracked the remaining stone pillars in the room, sending a shower of heavy rocks crashing down into the pit.
Her dark eyes exploded with blinding purple fire, and the cracks on her skin healed instantly as her ancient, decaying vessel was forcefully pushed back into her past Prime State.
Her speed and power skyrocketed, shaking the entire mountain base.
"Die!" she screamed, her voice sounding like a chorus of screaming souls.
She blurred.
She did not run; she completely disappeared from sight, leaving a thick trail of purple fire behind her.
Gabriel’s eyes flashed behind his mask. Thanks to his insane Perception stat, his mind could see the battle in slow motion.
He did not look at her movement; he looked at her life force.
With his high Perception, Gabriel instantly noticed the true state of her body. Underneath the terrifying purple fire and the massive aura of power, her life energy was draining at an alarming speed. It was like a cup with a giant hole in the bottom, leaking raw power with every single microsecond she spent in this form.
’She is burning her own soul,’ Gabriel calculated, his mind cool and analytical. ’This power boost is massive, but her body cannot handle it. She is on a strict timer. Every second she fights, her broken vessel decays five times faster.’
He did not need to fight her head on. He did not need to clash against her mountain splitting power.
He just had to outlast her.
Swoosh!
Mo Shiyun reappeared directly in front of him, her hands covered in thick claws of purple fire. She swung both claws downward in a massive cross cut aimed at his neck. The physical wind from her strike was so sharp that it sliced a deep groove into the stone floor before her hands even arrived.
Gabriel did not block.
Burrow Shift!
Right as the purple claws were about to touch his dark coat, Gabriel’s body vanished into the ground. He dissolved into a ripple of dark shadow, sinking into the stone floor.
BOOM!
Mo Shiyun’s double claws struck the empty stone where he had been standing. The sheer, terrifying power of the blow blasted a three meter deep crater into the floor, sending a massive shockwave of purple fire and stone fragments flying in all directions.
Swoosh!
A split second later, Gabriel shot out of the ground ten meters away, landing lightly on his boots.
"Do you only know how to run, coward?!" Mo Shiyun screamed, her eyes burning with mad fury.
She blurred again, appearing above him in the blink of an eye. She brought both hands down, launching a barrage of ten massive spears of purple fire that rained down like a meteor storm.
Gabriel’s body shifted. Using his Agility, he did not run backward. Instead, he danced through the falling meteors, his footwork so precise and fluid that he moved between the gaps of the explosions.
When a massive chunk of falling ceiling stone was blown toward him, Gabriel didn’t use his skills. He simply raised his left Dragon Fang blade and used his raw Strength to parry it, deflecting the heavy boulder to the side so it crashed harmlessly into the wall.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Whenever Mo Shiyun got too close, Gabriel crossed his twin blades to block her claws, parrying only when necessary. Every block sent a heavy, metal clashing ring through the room, but Gabriel used his monstrous Strength to absorb the kinetic impact, letting his boots slide slightly across the stone to disperse the force.
He was like a stone in the middle of a raging storm, completely unfazed while the entire chamber around him was being systematically reduced to rubble.
Ten seconds... fifteen seconds... twenty seconds...
On the ground, Liang, Evelyn, and the other survivors could only watch in complete, paralyzed awe. They couldn’t even see the movements of the two fighters. All they could see was a blinding storm of purple demonic fire clashing against a golden crimson streak that moved with perfect, quiet grace.
"He is... he is holding her off..." Liang gasped, his broken chest rising and falling. "She is burning her soul... yet she cannot even land a clean hit on him..."
Suddenly, Mo Shiyun’s movement slowed.
The purple fire around her body flickered violently. Her Prime State was starting to collapse. The raw, soul burning power was too massive for her fragile, rotting body to contain.
CRAAAACK!
Deep, jagged cracks opened across her face and arms, and a fountain of thick, black blood poured from beneath her bone mask. Her breathing turned into a wet, choking gasp as her physical stats began to plummet back to earth.
"No... my vessel..." she whimpered, her eyes flickering with pure, unadulterated horror.
Gabriel’s eyes narrowed behind his mask.
’Now!’
He did not waste a single microsecond. The moment her defense collapsed and her Demonic Qi flickered, Gabriel exploded forward.
The stone beneath his boot imploded with a thunderous bang, and Gabriel shot forward like a bolt of lightning, his body turning into a dark, blinding streak that bypassed her final, weak barrier of purple fire entirely.
In a single, fluid motion, he drove both of his Dragon Fang dual blades forward with monstrous, physical force.
CRUNCH!
The twin blades pierced cleanly through her chest plates, cutting through her heart and spine. The sheer kinetic momentum of his charge carried her entire body backward across the room.
BANG!
Gabriel slammed her body directly against a massive stone pillar, the twin blades driving deep into the stone, pinning her forcefully to the pillar.
Mo Shiyun’s body stiffened. The purple fire in her eyes flickered once, twice, before completely dying out, leaving her bone mask cracked and broken. She looked at Gabriel with a mixture of hatred, disbelief, and despair.
"Who... who are you..." she whispered in a barely audible voice.
Gabriel did not answer. He simply looked at her with his cold, blue eyes behind his visor, his hand remaining steady on the hilt of his blades as her body slowly began to crumble into grey, lifeless dust.
The final obstruction standing between him and the spike was now finally taken care of.
