Chapter 85 Confusing 1
Chapter 85 Confusing 1
He Mang followed behind him, wearing a dark suit.
The two men were followed by more than a dozen men, whose bulging waists clearly indicated that they had come prepared.
The unusual combination of the two created a powerful aura that instantly attracted everyone's attention.
The atmosphere in the church instantly became tense, and the gang leaders stopped talking and turned their attention to the two men.
Sofia's men immediately gripped their guns and aimed them at them.
Sofia herself walked out from beside the altar, her face expressionless, showing no sign of emotion.
She strode slowly to Cobblestone, her voice cold: "Mr. Cobblestone, Mr. He Mang, I didn't expect you to come."
"I will naturally attend the memorial services for Mr. Carmine and young Master Alberto."
Coppert's voice was steady, his gaze fixed on the portrait, without a trace of remorse. "After all, I was once a member of the Falcone family."
Sofia's fingertips twitched slightly, but she didn't react.
She knew that taking action in front of everyone at this moment would only cause the Falcone family to lose face and might also give other gangs an opportunity to attack.
She suppressed her anger and slowly nodded: "Since you're here, stay."
He Mang, however, had no intention of giving her face. He stepped forward and looked at Sophia with a provocative gaze.
"Miss Sophia, I heard you lost a shipment? Would you like me to help you look for it?"
He paused, his tone becoming increasingly arrogant, "Oh, no, that batch of goods is in my hands now."
After all, the Falcone family is now leaderless; what right do they have to possess those things?
Sophia's face instantly darkened, and the killing intent in her eyes almost materialized.
"Mr. He Mang, please watch your words. This is Falcone family territory."
"Territory?"
He Mang chuckled and patted the shoulder of his subordinate.
"You're not in charge of Gotham's territory anymore."
"Mr. Copperfield is the most qualified person to inherit the Falcone family business. You, a woman just released from a mental hospital, dare to try and control all of this?"
Seeing the intense exchange between the two, their men immediately surrounded them.
Guns were immediately pointed at each other, and the atmosphere became extremely tense.
The gang leaders in the church retreated, seeking safe corners.
Levi and Gordon immediately became alert, deploying officers around the altar to be ready to respond to any emergencies.
Just then, Cobert's phone rang.
He took out his phone, saw the caller ID, his expression changed slightly, and he walked aside to answer the call.
A panicked voice came from the other end of the phone, speaking very quickly, saying that Frances had been kidnapped.
Coppert's fingers tightened suddenly, almost crushing the phone in his hand.
He raised his head, his eyes fierce as he looked at Sofia, the muscles at the corners of his mouth taut, carrying a bloodthirsty chill.
"What did you do to my mother?" His voice was hoarse, filled with suppressed anger.
Sofia laughed, a cruel and triumphant laugh: "Cobo, you've finally shown your true colors."
She snapped her fingers, and two of her men escorted Frances in through the back door of the church.
Frances was wearing a long gray dress, her hair was disheveled, and her face showed a look of terror.
His hands were tied behind his back, and there was a faint mark on his neck.
"Frances!" Coppert roared and was about to rush forward, but was stopped by He Mang's men.
"Want to save her?" Sophia walked up to Frances, grabbed her chin, and forced her to look up. "You'll have to trade your life for her first."
"boom--"
A gunshot shattered the church's deathly silence. He Mang's men fired first.
The bullet struck one of the Falcone family's henchmen in the chest, and blood gushed out, splattering onto the stained glass window and staining it red.
Immediately afterwards, the two sides engaged in a fierce gunfight, with gunfire erupting and bullets whistling past.
It hit the walls and pillars, scattering debris everywhere.
The candles were knocked over and ignited the tablecloth on the altar, and the flames spread rapidly.
Chaos erupted instantly inside the church as gangsters scattered in all directions.
Screams, gunshots, and the crackling of flames mingled together, creating a chaotic scene.
Hearing the commotion inside the church, Li Wei quickly led his men to provide assistance.
"Protect the innocent! Control the situation!" Levi shouted, then he and Gordon split up to act.
While dodging bullets, Li Wei evacuated unrelated people from the church, occasionally firing his pistol at the out-of-control gang members.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Frances struggled and finally broke free from Sophia's grasp.
She turned and ran, but was hit in the shoulder by a stray bullet, staggered and fell to the ground, blood instantly soaking the hem of her gray skirt.
Upon seeing this, Li Wei immediately rushed over and bent down to shield Frances with his body.
He raised his hand and fired, taking down two of Sofia's men who tried to approach.
"Don't move!" Li Wei's voice was deep and powerful as he pulled a tourniquet from his pocket.
He quickly wrapped his arms around Frances's shoulders and tightened his grip. "I'm a police officer. I'll take you out of here."
Frances trembled with pain, but gritted her teeth and didn't make a sound.
She simply thanked Levi and said nothing more, her gaze searching for Copeport's figure amidst the chaos.
Copperfield was surrounded by gunfire and flames, his vision obscured by thick smoke.
He only saw his mother fall to the ground, her skirt stained with blood, before she was swallowed up by the chaotic crowd.
He roared like a wild beast that had lost its mind, ignoring the threat of bullets, and charged toward the direction where his mother had fallen.
He fired his pistol wildly, every bullet flying toward Sofia.
His suit was torn by a bullet, and an old wound on his arm reopened, blood seeping out, but he was oblivious, his eyes burning with the flames of revenge.
Sofia, hiding behind a pillar, calmly directed her men to fight back.
His gaze was fixed on the crazed Copport, a cold smile playing on his lips.
She knew that Copeport had lost his mind, making him an easier opponent to deal with.
Taking advantage of the chaos, He Mang quietly circled around to behind Li Wei and Gordon, his eyes filled with malice.
He had long wanted to get rid of these two troublesome policemen, but he had never had the chance.
The scene was chaotic, making it the perfect time to strike.
The key is to get rid of these two people. Besides reducing trouble, he can also gain a lot of benefits.
He raised his hand, signaling his men to concentrate their fire on Levi and Gordon, and the bullets from the heavy machine gun whistled past.
However, he completely overestimated his subordinates' professional abilities. A burst of bullets hit the ground around the two men, sending up a string of pebbles.
"Watch out!" Levi sensed the danger behind him and immediately pulled Gordon behind the altar.
Bullets struck the altar, sending splinters flying.
He peeked out and saw He Mang's men wielding heavy machine guns with fierce firepower, and his brows furrowed tightly.
They only had pistols and limited ammunition, and were powerless to fight back against heavy firepower.
Gordon raised his hand to fire, but was suppressed by the enemy's firepower and couldn't lift his head.
Just as he was about to change positions, a bullet struck his right hand, the pistol fell to the ground, and blood instantly gushed from the wound.
Gordon groaned, his face turning pale, and he immediately pressed his left hand against the wound, trembling with pain.
